Digital magazines in the near future
This conceptual video is a corporate collaborative research project
initiated by Bonnier R&D into the experience of reading magazines on
handheld digital devices. It illustrates one possible vision for
digital magazines in the near future, presented by our design partners
at BERG.
The concept aims to capture the essence of magazine reading, which
people have been enjoying for decades: an engaging and unique reading
experience in which high-quality writing and stunning imagery build up
immersive stories.
The concept uses the power of digital media to create a rich and
meaningful experience, while maintaining the relaxed and curated
features of printed magazines. It has been designed for a world in
which interactivity, abundant information and unlimited options could
be perceived as intrusive and overwhelming.

Most Contagious 2009
Wireless Parking in San Francisco
What if sensors on the street knew exactly which parking spots were free? Your phone could direct you straight to a free space and the city could use that real-time information for dynamic meter pricing, discouraging driving when car traffic is too high. San Francisco is already trying the idea. If it works, it’ll be good for motorists, for the city, and for the environment. (via GOOD)
Phone to Phone Gaming

Adidas & North Kingdom: Teamgeist
North Kingdom just launched a cool football advergame for Adidas called “Teamgeist”. Teamgeist is the name given the ball used at the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. The new Adidas campaign is in partnership with the German Football Federation.
As usual the video & flash production and design quality is amazing, the game is turn based and pretty easy to play, you can event download a graphic novel as a bonus. (via Digital Buzz Blog)
Boxee – the open source media center
BOXEE paid us a visit this morning to talk about the evolution of their media player which is currently in alpha release. The application they bring to the table is quite exciting and promises to be a strong independent contender alongside giants like Apple, Comcast, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.
What BOXEE is is quite simple, yet hard to wrap one’s head around. On one hand it is a program that organizes all of your personal music, photos, and videos; on the other it gives you access to all online media in one place. So instead of opening iTunes to play your mp3s, QuickTime to play your videos, Hulu to watch SNL, Flickr to browse photos, Pandora to stream audio, and so on, BOXEE brings it all to you. It’s even designed to be accessed using a remote on a TV and there is a social layer that lets you share with your friends.
As we watch print, tv, radio all merge online, BOXEE is there to make life easier.
The Beta release will be out in December. (via James Taylor)
